I’m home from another tour (this one to support the paperback publication of Ginny Moon), and had a particularly great time this time out because in addition to visiting bookstores in several major cities, I went into several public schools as well. It was like being a teacher all over again. I got to talk with kids about the writing process, and creativity. Some pictures follow – my favorite is the drawing that one of the kids in Denver gave me after our talk!
That’s an amazing drawing! Tell me a student did it?
Yep – an eighth grade girl drew it while I was up there talking. I was totally flattered, and amazed. Will be using it as my FB profile!
I just finished reading Ginny Moon…It was touching, disturbing, and thrilling all at at the same time. This book really gave me a window into a unique mind. I have an autistic nephew and the way you portrayed the concrete, linear thinking was so spot on! This book is a great lesson in true empathy: understanding how someone autistic has a distinct logic and thought pattern!
Thanks Karen. So glad to hear you enjoyed the book!
I too have just finished the journey you sent me on (being inside the head of such an honest, autistic 14 year old girl). This inciteful read is a constant reminder that we all think differently and how vitally important it is to listen to what someone is saying, no matter what their age.
Thank you!
Hello Mr. Ludwig….thank you for your wonderful writing in Ginny Moon. I could hardly put it down and I read it with my heart in my mouth, tears in my eyes, breathless at times worry about Ginny. I kept wanting people to ask Ginny better questions. I am so grateful she found her voice in the end – my heart couldn’t stand anything less for her.
This is a beautiful, amazing story. Thank you!
